Zoe Kravitz is a member of the cast of the Harry Potter spinoff franchise “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” the Warner Bros. film which stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller and Alison Sudol, and is set in New York 70 years before the events in the “Harry Potter” books and film series. It follows Newt Scamander (Redmayne), a Magizoologist who ventures into a secret community of witches and wizards as he attempts to document magical creatures. His book is eventually used at Hogwarts, where Harry Potter attends school.

Kravitz was added after production began (it’s currently in post-production), so I wouldn’t expect her role to be a substantial one, although it’s said that it might be an intro to a larger role in the sequel that will come after the first film, which is set for release on November 18 (Warner Bros. has already dated the sequel for Nov. 16, 2018).

David Yates, who helmed the final four “Harry Potter” films as well as “Fantastic Beasts,” is also directing that sequel. Author J.K. Rowling is scripting.

David Heyman, Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram are producing.

Neil Blair, Rick Senat and Danny Cohen are executive producing.

Kravitz most recently appeared in George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the “Divergent” film franchise, “Dope” and the upcoming indie “Vincent N Roxxy.”
