'RHOP': Candiace Dillard Bassett's Husband Chris Bassett Questions Cast On What They Say About Him

Chris Bassett has gotten a lot of flack for managing Candiace Dillard Bassett’s career. The former restaurateur has been working with Candiace to maintain her budding singing and acting career.

Chris has been the liaison between Candiace and producers, helping to ensure she attends recording sessions on time and meets deadlines for her music video visuals. Though Candiace is grateful for Chris’ help, others are skeptical.

He caught a lot of flack from Candiace’s co-stars who complain that they feel Chris is riding Candiace’s coattails. Things were further escalated but Candiace’s mom Dorothy, who alleged that Chris quit his job after he married Candiace to become a “house husband.” Both Candiace and Chris deny such, and Chris had a mouthful to say to the ladies during part 3 of The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion special.

Chris Bassett calls out the double standard in the group

Chris let it be known that he’s far from a leech. According to Chris, he sold his restaurant in 2020 amid the crisis from the coronavirus pandemic. He continues in his field of culinary and provides catering services and cooking classes. He also says he is working on a cookbook.

Chris also had a lot to say about the confusion regarding the living situation with Candiace. Viewers remember Candiace living in an “investment” property her mother purchased during her first few seasons on the show. At the time, Chris was also living there as they planned the wedding. According to Candiace, the three split the mortgage. After they married, Chris and Candiace began paying the mortgage in full.

He also talked about the ways in which other husbands have supported their wives was brought up. Robyn Dixon and Karen Huger spoke about their transition from housewife to entrepreneur. They now say their husbands support their dreams in whatever way they need. When Chris asked what the difference between their situations and him managing Candiace, Gizelle Bryant said it was because Dixon and Huger’s husbands were the primary breadwinners in their relationships prior to them branching out on their own and the wives starting their own businesses.
