Denzel Washington is returning as Robert McCall in the third chapter of The Equalizer and reuniting with Man on Fire star Dakota Fanning for the first time in almost 20 years.
The official trailer of Sony’s upcoming film shows Washington going up against the mafia while living in Southern Italy.
The Equalizer 3 will debut in theaters on Sept. 1.

Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.
'The Equalizer 3' is written by Richard Wenk.
It is directed by Antoine Fuqua who also serves as producer alongside Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Denzel Washington, Steve Tisch, Clayton Townsend, Alex Siskin, and Tony Eldridge.
The film is executive produced by David Bloomfield, Tarak Ben Ammar, and Andy Mitchell.
