Seeing double?

The official trailer for HBO Max’s original limited series The Girl Before shows Gugu Mbatha-Raw facing a harrowing fate after becoming the resident of a mysterious house.

Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo star in this adaptation of JP Delaney’s novel about a woman whose life begins to change after moving into a house with a special set of rules for its guests. According to the official description:

Max Original limited series THE GIRL BEFORE…tells the story of Jane (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who gets the chance to move into a beautiful, ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect (David Oyelowo). There’s just one catch: the occupants must abide by his list of exacting rules. Jane starts to feel the house changing her in unexpected ways, but when she makes the shocking discovery about her predecessor, Emma (Jessica Plummer), she’s forced to confront unnerving similarities. As the two women’s timelines interweave, Jane begins to question if her fate will be the same as the girl before…

The limited series also stars Ben Hardy and is written and executive produced by Delaney. Marissa Lestrade serves as co-writer with Lisa Brühlmann n as director and executive producer. Mbatha-Raw is also associate producer. Eleanor MOran, Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh are executive producing for 42 and Ben Irving executive produces for the BBC. Rhonda Smith is producing.

All four episodes of The Girl Before will come to HBO Max February 10.
