For 25 seasons the rotating female panel of The View has engaged in daily discussion on hot-button topics in the news, politics, and the entertainment world. And inevitably with each co-host having her own viewpoint on these issues, arguments and drama have ensued. The current season of the daytime talk show has had its fair share of heated feuds, with the most recent headline-making debate surrounding Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah clashing over trickle-down economics.
Throughout the season there have been plenty of on-air conversations that have sparked tense debate among the co-hosts. Here are five of the most notable arguments on this season of The View so far.
Joy Behar Argues with Sara Haines Around Gun Control on ‘The View’
Gun control is a contested point of discussion both in America and on talk shows. The women of The View have especially made their opinions known around the issue. One notably heated argument related to gun control this season occurred between Joy Behar and Sara Haines.
Behar expressed that she was fed up with the excuses for the reasons behind mass shootings, insisting there is only one cause: assault weapons. When co-host Haines brought up the argument around mental illness, Behar snapped back yelling at one point, “It’s the guns, it’s the guns, it’s the guns!” As Haines began to defend herself, Behar cut her off. “Oh, stop with the mental health,” she said. “It’s an irrelevant point.”
This definitely got more than a few fans of The View talking, and not all of it was good.
The Panel Clashes Against Alyssa Farah Griffin’s Prediction of a Red Wave
Conservative host Alyssa Farah Griffin butted heads with the rest of The View’s panel when she predicted republicans will win in large swaths during the 2022 midterm elections. Griffin, a republican and conservative commentator who worked in the Trump White House, predicted that “the red wave is coming,” telling the panel, “republicans are going to win the midterms short of something unforeseen that I cannot predict now.”
Joy Behar, who said earlier in the show, “we have a chance in November to get rid of these people,” cut in to stop Griffin, cautioning, “You don’t know that.” When Griffin explained, “All the polling is suggesting that—” Whoopi Goldberg interrupted to clarify, telling Griffin, “I understand what you’re saying, but let’s remind people it’s up to them to make this decision.”
Whoopi Goldberg Schools Lindsey Granger Over the Codification of Roe v. Wade
The overturning of Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, caused an uproar among many Americans including the panel of The View. In a discussion around the codification of Roe V. Wade, Lindsey Granger — a conservative commentator who sometimes fills in as a guest host — butted heads with Whoopi Goldberg over what she perceived as a lack of action from democrats, whom she accused of letting Roe v. Wade get overturned when they were unable to codify the law.
In an argument with Joy Behar, Granger mentioned that under Bill Clinton and under Obama, Democrats had the chance to codify Roe v. Wade, but decided not to. As Granger and Behar began to go at it, Goldberg stepped in to shut down the argument and school Granger. “It’s not that they decided not to. They couldn’t get it done,” she told Granger. Goldberg went on to explain that “For whatever reason, they couldn’t get it done,” she repeated. “It’s not like they weren’t trying. It’s not like it wasn’t a conversation. It’s not like it wasn’t in the zeitgeist.”
Sunny Hostin and Joy Behar Butt Heads with Sara Haines Over the Electoral College
Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines battled it out on an episode of The View over their different takes on the electoral college, with Hostin and co-host Joy Behar slamming the system and its roots in slavery, and Haines insisting she understood “the spirit” of the institution.
During a conversation about replacement theory, Haines brought up its vote-based messaging and how she felt that we live in a country where the popular vote supports left-leaning issues. “It’s the electoral college and a lot of those protections, and a lot of the — on a local level — the gerrymandering. The redistricting. So they’re manipulating who can vote and how they can vote.” Before Haines could continue, Behar cut in to say, “The system is rigged. The electoral college is a rigged idea,” and Hostin chimed in to say, “And it’s based in slavery.” Haines later went on to say, “I understand the spirit of why they did the electoral college,” but Hostin shut her down, firmly replying, “The spirit of the electoral college is that it was founded in slavery.”
Lauren Wright Clashes With ‘The View’ Hosts Over Regulating Gun Makers

Conservative guest co-host Lauren Wright clashed with fellow co-hosts over suing gun makers when mass shootings occur. Wright made the argument that suing gun makers sets a risky precedent for suing companies for any reason. Wright argued that it’s dangerous to put the onus on private individuals to seek justice, emphasizing that “the solution… is changing the laws. It’s not suing people.”
Whoopi Goldberg and other co-hosts fired back at Wright, arguing that it’s important to hold gun manufacturers accountable for their dangerous messaging. “What happens when the lawmakers sit and obstruct those laws from shifting?” Goldberg questioned Wright. “You can leave people to do the right thing, but one of the reasons we have so many kinds of laws is ’cause people don’t!” Goldberg added. “I think we have to babysit people and say, ‘You’ve gotta do the right thing.’”
